Respimat® Soft Mist™ Inhaler has a unique delivery mechanism, which is propellant-free and delivers a metered dosage of medication as a fine mist. Let us have a closer look at the components of the inhaler.

The Uniblock
The Spring
A simple 180° twist of the inhaler's base compresses the spring and builds up mechanical power. No chemical propellant or battery is necessary, which of course means no adverse effects on the environment.
Top
The Cartridge
Medication delivered by Respimat® SMI is stored in a collapsible plastic bag in a sealed plastic container inside the cartridge. With each actuation, the correct dosage is drawn from the inner reservoir and the flexible bag contracts accordingly.
Top
The Transparent Base
The transparent base slides off to allow for easy insertion of the cartridge.
Top
The Capilliary Tube
The tube slides into a canal in the cartridge and the dosage is drawn through this tube into a micro pump.
Top
The Dose-Release Button
When the dose-release button is pressed, the energy released from the spring forces the solution through the uniblock and the unique, slow-moving, long-lasting Soft Mist™ is released.
Top
Dose Indicator
The dose indicator tells how many doses are left. Once the dose indicator reaches the red zone approximately 30 doses are left. Once the dose indicator has reached the end of the scale the inhaler locks automatically.
Top
Dosing Chamber
The dosing chamber is the space where the exact dose is present before you press the doses-release button

The Uniblock
The Uniblock is the core-element of
Respimat® Soft Mist™ Inhaler. It is the nozzle system that provides the Soft Mist™.
The secret of the unique Soft Mist™ produced by Respimat® Soft Mist™ Inhaler is the extremely fine nozzle system, the so-called uniblock. When the medication solution is forced through it, two fine jets of liquid are produced.

The two jets of liquid converge at an optimised angle, and the impact of these converging jets generate the Soft Mist™. This mist is extremely fine (the majority of the droplets fall into the fine particle fraction of
5.8 µm average). It moves slowly, which is the basis for many of its potential benefits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. High lung deposition with the associated reduced oropharyngeal deposition, no requirement for forceful inspiration and patients´ preference 7 are just some of these benefits.
